Another month is over and there's lot to talk about so here is your speedrunning recap for February 2023:
First to events and Potterthon started their 2023 relaunch off with a bang this month with an PC Octofecta 100% relay race. Two teams of 8 runners raced to be crowned the victors across 2 days. After a shaky start at the begining for team 1 due to tech issues, they started day 2 30 mins behind team 2 however after a dramatic turn of events, team 1 took the win with an impressive final time of 19hrs, 42mins and 13 seconds. A huge well done to all who took part, especially those who ran/commentated during HP5 and HP6 the two significantly longest games in the hundofecta multirun. An extra special thank you also goes out to the amazing Rasschla for restreaming the whole event so flawlessly. #teamgobstonescat
It's finally here! The game many HP fans have wanted for the longest time. Hogwarts Legacy an open world HP RPG released on the 10th of this month to much fan and critic anticipation. While the leaderboards were actually yet to open to runs throughout this month people have still been breaking down the game and trying to beat it as quickly as possible. The leaderboards opened today and you can find them here.
While most were distracted with Hogwarts Legacy a sneaky runner by the name of Mipmip98 came along and took one of the communities longer standing World Records from one of the communities most prolific record holders Flo203. Mip achieved World Record by 5 seconds in HP2 PC Any% after tying the previous WR of Flo's (a 33 flat) thus ending a 1141 day streak for Flo. Since then Mip has also taken the 100% record for the game meaning he now holds 3 of the 5 HP2 PC Main board World Records.
This month 10 community members stood for the title of Wizengamot member (PC game moderator) of the 10 that applied, 6 were succesful and thus took on their roles. A huge congrats to all who were succesful and a thank you to all who applied. The succesful runners were as follows:
An extra special congratulations goes out to ItsJust_Vlad for achieveing his first ever World Record in the community with HP4 king Ablazeknight. The record was achieved in HP4 PC Any% 2 Player with a time that beat the previously set World Record by 1 second.
As mentioned, today the leaderboards for Hogwarts Legacy open to runs. You can find them here. Also, preparations for the HP2 PC AWC tournament continue, as ever info is avaliable in the PC speedrunning discord.
And that is it! You are now up to date on the biggest stories in the HPSR community for February 2023
